the International Friendship Day

Friendship Day celebrations take place on the first Sunday of August every year. The tradition of dedicating a day in honor of friends began in US in 1935. Gradually the festival gained popularity and today Friendship Day is celebrated in large number of countries including India. On this day people spend time with their friends and express love for them. Exchange of Friendship Day Gifts like flowers, cards and wrist bands is a popular tradition of this occasion.

" Two may talk together under the same roof for many years, yet never really meet; and two others at first speech are old friends. "

" Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art... It has no survival value; rather is one of those things that give value to survival. "

" Anybody can sympathise with the sufferings of a friend, but it requires a very fine nature to sympathise with a friend's success. "

Friendship Day History

There is not much literature on Friendship Day history as we celebrate today. However, there are numerous folktales and several instance in mythological legends that shows that friends and friendship have been valued since the beginning of civilized world. As an intrinsically social creature, men love to make friends to further this process of socialization.

Dear Friend,
If u r a chocolate ur the sweetest, if u r a Teddy Bear u r the most huggable, If u r a Star u r the Brightest, and since u r my "FRIEND" u r the "BEST"!!!!!!!!!

HAPPY FRIENDSHIP DAY!!

Top 10 Tips for Learning English

How can I improve my english?

It’s hard to give specific advice without knowing more about you. So I’m going to give you some general advice. Which may be of interest to other listeners and readers.

Point one
Be clear about why you want to learn english. Do you want it for your job? To help you get a job. To talk to english speakers. To help you study.

Point two
Be clear about, how good you want your english to be. How good do you want to be at speaking english? Listening… Reading… Writing…

Point Three
Have a clear image of yourself when you have achieved the proficiency that you want. What will you see? What will you hear? How will you feel?

Point four
If possible enroll on a language course, if you can’t put yourself in situations where you can use english which leads on to point five.

Point five
Look for opportunities to learn and use english. Speak english whenever you can, listen to the radio and CDs in english, read and write in english. If you look for opportunities you will find them.

Point six
Write down new words and phrases in a notebook, keep the notebook with you. So you can look at it when you have a spare moment.

Point seven
Practice practice practice… There is an expression in english “If you don’t want to lose it use it”. This is very true when it comes to learning foreign languages.

Point eight
Find the learning buddy or colleague. Find someone you can learn english with. Speak with each other, send each other messages in english.

Point nine
Learn little and often. Make it a habit to learn english for 10 minutes each day, this is much better than learning for longer once a week.

Point ten
And a final point at the beginning of a learning period, ask yourself. What do I want to learn today?. At the end of a learning period, ask yourself. What have I learned today?

English in My Life

When my teacher said "good morning" to me on the very first day of school, I knew that she would be teaching a tough subject. She didn't get any answer for that greeting because back then, I knew nothing about "good morning". Surprisingly, as I went through the class session on that day, I realized that "good morning" wasn't the first English phrase that I'd known. English has been rooted in my society long before my country achieved its independence and shockingly I've used some of its words in my daily speech without realizing it because the words were fully modified by the society so that they could be installed smoothly into our language.
Learning English was always an interesting yet tough
experiencefor me. English did attract my attention and

How to Respond to "Thank You"?

Most languages have an automatic response to thanks.
The British don't automatically respond to thanks, but Americans do. A response is not necessary in British English, but is becoming more frequent.

Some of the ways of responding to thanks are:
You're welcome. (mainly US)
Not at all. (Formal, UK)
It's my pleasure.
Don't mention it.
Any time.
That's alright/okay.
No problem.

TIME OF WISDOM: I've learned

I've learned-
That you cannot make someone love you, all you can do is be someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them that no matter how much I care, some people just don't care back.
I've learned-
That it takes years to build up trust, and only seconds to destroy it. That it's not what you have in your life but who you have in your life that counts.
I've learned -
That you can get by on charm for about fifteen minutes. After that, you better know something. That you shouldn't compare yourself to the best others can do. That you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.
I've learned-
That it's taking me a long time to become the person that I want to be. That you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them.
I've learned-
That you can keep going long after you can't. That we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.
I've learned-
That either you control your attitude or it controls you. That regardless of how hot and steamy (
fumegante)a relationship is a first, the passion fades and there had better be something else to take its place.
I've learned-
That heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless    (
independentemente) Of the consequences.
That money is
a lousy (
um péssimo)way of keeping score.
I've learned-
That my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time. That sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you are down will be the ones to help you get back up.
I've learned-
That sometimes when I get angry I have the right to be angry, but it doesn't give me the right to be cruel. That true friendship continues to grow over the longest distance, and the same goes for true love.
I've learned-
That just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have. That maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.
I've learned-
That you should never tell a child their dreams are unlikely or outlandish. (
distante)Few things are more humiliating, and what tragedy it would be if they believed it. That no matter how good your friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while, and you must forgive them for that.
I've learned-
That it isn't always good enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you must learn to forgive yourself. That no matter how bad a heart is broken; the world doesn't stop for your grief.
I've learned-
That our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for whom we become. That just because two people argue, it doesn't mean that they don't love each other, and just because they don't argue, it doesn't mean they do.
I've learned-
That we don't have to change friends, if we understand that friends change. That two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.
I've learned-
That your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you. That even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you, you will find the strength to help.
I've learned-
That credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.
¢¾that the people you care about the most in life are taken from you too soon ¢¾
I've learned-
That it¡¯s hard to determine where to draw the line between being nice and not hurting someone¡¯s feelings or standing up for what you believe. That no matter what happens to me on earth or how much my faith falters, God's faith in me never dwindles or fails.
I've learned-
That life's lessons never end and wisdom can always be passed on.

The Star Spangled Banner

The Defense of Fort McHenry
by Francis Scott Key
20 September 1814

Oh, say can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, now conceals, now discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines on the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner! O long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wiped out their foul footstep's pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heaven-rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, for our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner forever shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

God Bless The USA: 4th of july

Hi guys today is the day of the United States Independence Day then happy July 4th to all Americans at heart ...I'll let the lyrics god bless the USA with the voice of Beyonce
It is a beautiful lyric ...

kisses to all by Rosimary lima

God Bless The USA

If tomorrow all the things were gone
I?d worked for all my life
And I had to start again
With just my family by my side
I?d thank my lucky stars, to be livin' here today
Cause the flag still stands for freedom
and they cant take that away
And I'm proud to be an American
where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up
next to you and defend her still today
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA
From the lakes of Minnesota to the hills of Tennessee
Across the plains of Texas, from sea to shining sea
From Detroit down to Houston, to New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every American heart
and it's time to make a change
That I'm proud to be an American
where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
and who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up, next to you and defend her still today
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA
And I'm proud to be an American
where at least I know I?m free
And I won't forget the men who died
and who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA

Independence Day July 4th

On July 4, 1776, we claimed our independence from Britain and Democracy was born. Every day thousands leave their homeland to come to the "land of the free and the home of the brave" so they can begin their American Dream.

The United States is truly a diverse nation made up of dynamic people. Each year on July 4, Americans celebrate that freedom and independence with barbecues, picnics, and family gatherings. Through the Internet we are learning about and communicating with people of different nations, with different languages and different races throughout the world. Bringing the world closer with understanding and knowledge can only benefit all nations.

We invite all nations to celebrate with Americans online this Fourth of July.

Happy Birthday, America!

Love Story:Get a heart!

One night a guy and girl were driving home
from the movies. The boy sensed there was
something wrong because of the painful
silence they shared between them that night.
The girl then asked the boy to pull over
because she wanted to talk. She told him that
her feelings had changed and that it was time to move on.
A silent tear slid down his cheek as he slowly

reached into his pocket and passed her a

folded note. At that moment, a drunk driver

was speeding down that very same street. He

swerved right into the drivers seat, killing
the boy.
Miraculously, the girl survived. Remembering
the note, she pulled it out and read it.

” Without your love, I would die.”;(

Mariane Pearl: And kidnappers - their point is to terrorize people. But *I* am not terrorized, and *you* can't be terrorized.

Captain: [after the two men have just watched a man be tortured] Are you okay?
Randall Bennett: [smiling nervously] Yeah.
Captain: We'll go easy on this next guy. He's a jihadi, spent time in Afghanistan. And he's a police officer.
Randall Bennett: Man, I love this town.

Mariane Pearl: [looking at a picture of her husband smiling while having a gun to his head] He says "fuck you" to them.

Sicker than the remix
Baby, let me blow your mind tonight

to strike out with the foot or feet

Então você olha para a pessoa e diz: "Come on, man! Spit it out!".

2. To snarl or entangle.
3. To cause to form a knot or knots.^
